We offer complete appraisal services at this site.

Appraisals are performed by Gary Lehrer. Gary is an internationally known dealer and collector of vintage fountain pens.  He shows at 12-15 major pen shows each year throughout the world..  He has contributed to several major publications in the field, has been featured and/or quoted in several major newspapers, and has been profiled in Pen World Magazine (in 1990 and again in 2002).

Gary owns and operates GoPens, which publishes the Quarterly Illustrated Vintage Pen Catalog, both in hard copy and on-line.

He is a member of the Pen Collectors of America and the UK Writing Equipment Society, having guest lectured to the Society membership on two occasions.

Gary catalogs catalogues approximately 2000 pens each year.  He is a recognized expert in the field.

Two services are offered:

Email - You can send an image to us in email and we will try to tell you what it is. There is no charge for this service.  Make sure that the pens(s) are easily seen in the image and not blurry or over/under exposed. Please do not send large image files. Try to keep them below 250K.  We will not provide more than a rough estimate of value through email.

Written Appraisal - We provide written appraisals of pens. These appraisals take a form similar to the Catalog listings.  For example:

MONTBLANC. Circa 1935. Model 40 Masterpiece (Montblanc's top-of-the-line model). Push Knob Filler. Coral Red. Very rare. Gold filled trim. Fine, italic nib. Some imprint wear, but fully readable, otherwise near mint.  Value $1,400 to $1,600.

The charge for this service is $75 per hour. We can appraise approximately 6-10 pens per hour.  To do this, you must send the pen(s) to us.  Contact us to discuss shipping and payment arrangements.

If you have any questions, please let us know.
